Vice President of Medical Management, Home State Health
Robert H. Strashun, M.D.
As a child growing up in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Dr. Strashun always enjoyed accompanying his father, an X-ray technician, to his work at a hospital. That early introduction to health care, and the vocation of caring for patients, greatly influenced his decision to become a physician. He decided to become a pediatrician in medical school, where he figured out that working with children was a lot of fun.
For the majority of his career, Dr. Strashun has operated his own private practice in University City and Ladue. He continues to enjoy working with children and watching them grow into healthy adults. He is taking particular pleasure in now caring for the children of his former patients.
Dr. Strashun received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, and then moved to St. Louis to complete his pediatric residency at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He received certification by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Strashun is an Associate Professor in Clinical Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine. He currently serves as a Community Outpatient Practice Experience (COPE) Preceptor for St. Louis Children's Hospital training residents in his office, and also served on the St. Louis Children's Hospital Medical Executive Committee. His peers have nominated him for inclusion in the Best Doctors in America. As a member of Pediatric Group, LLC, an independent association of over 60 St. Louis area general pediatricians, Dr. Strashun strives to ensure that small pediatric practices remain a viable choice for patients and families.
He and his wife, Barbara, have one son, who is currently in college. Although he grew up a Mets fan, living in St. Louis has converted Dr. Strashun into a diehard Cardinals fan. He enjoys spending time with his family and dog, Gorilla, and going fishing with his son.
